I had the use of a 5thGen SS m6 some years ago which had been modified with a cold air intake and a long tube header/off road pipes. This car had a cel but ran flawlessly even on track at an HPDE event I drove it at.
No tune at all but it is not a good thing to do both a intake and headers due to the possibility of a very lean condition which can lead to a burnt piston or worse. Rich is safe but lean is not. The computer may handle one of these mods but may not be able to do both without a tune.
Get your air fuel ratio checked even if you’re not going to get a tune just for piece of mind. Know your number.
