Buttoned everything up yesterday, poured in the breakin oil, filled the supercharger coolant reservoir, cycled the pump a few times to purge the air and topped off the coolant, started pouring in the engine coolant only to have it pour right back out from somewhere on the passenger side of the radiator. Performed a bit of troubleshooting and determined the leak was coming from the plastic radiator tank.
For anyone who has not had the pleasure, i can honestly say - I'm not kidding here- i believe i could get the motor out of a NA a8 car faster than removing the radiator. It was an unbelievable pita. I finally prevailed and discovered that the leak was at the location of the intrgral nut that attaches the fan assembly to the radiator. There is a recessed area that appears to be there to prevent the fan bolt from contacting the radiator tank. My radiator is cracked at this point. Don't know how this happened, i used the correct bolts and did not overtorque anything. Ordered a new radiator from gmpartsdirect ($394 eith shipping).
I'm hoping to get the new radiator this week, my wife will be out of town and it will be a perfect time to play with the car and get in a few break in miles in without the distraction of numerous honeydo's.
