Don't get me wrong if i ran an 8 second car i would want a automatic but it wouldn't have 10 speeds that's for sure . On a road course at a non professional level just get a manual and have a blast , and believe it or not most there are manuals . I highly doubt GM will forget that fact that its manual transmissions and V8s that got these cars where they are today , after all we are not talking about Fords .
Motorsports sucks these days by the way , i can't watch F1 at all and have trouble watching Nascar which i have grown up watching . I do like live events , i get to Watkins Glen , Jersey Motor sports and Dover every year, that i enjoy.
Auto being fast is just at the water cooler??

I'm glad you enjoy your manual.. I've owned both, but about every magazine known to man including GM list the auto as the fastest vs manual.. That is fact, not just water cooler.

As far as your buddies having a manual that is faster.. I'm at a loss there?? It really has nothing to do with GM dropping the manual or what's going on in the auto industry. Only thing I can think to say is "good for them". . But anyone with dollars can build a fast car manual or auto.

You not liking a sport doesn't change the facts, I've quit watching several myself including NASCAR. But at NHRA level, F1, and road course racing is going to paddle shift cars. For that reason and slowing sales of manuals is leading to GM and Ford moving away from that option. I think it sucks and as I said in my last post they should build both.

Personally, I'm older now and had my share of manuals, nothing against them. I've seen enough tests and races to know that the modern automatics are more than track worthy.

Let's just hope that GM will give the customer the option Letting consumers prove their point at the track..
