It’ll largely depend on your fuel, tune and frankly, greed. The stock LT1’s pistons are typically the weak point when it comes to engine failure. Pushing it a bit with a fuel pump, injectors or even a cam (for the fuel lobe) will give you more headroom but ultimately place your pistons in an even more precarious position.
But, you’re bound to have someone chime in and say that they’re running 3000lbs of boost on their stock LT1 pistons for the last 4 trillion miles on their car, all while WOT and they’re just fine—all of the fear mongering is for nothing.
Stick around 600whp and you should be ok for a good long while so long as the tune is on point and you don’t run out of fuel.
