I'm old enough to recall firsthand the old 80s V6 cars, and the modern V6s (of which the LGX is a really good one) is a completely different animal. The stigma of a V6 pony car lives on though... I just encourage anyone who sees a V6 car in that way to go take one for a drive - it will change your mind. Not saying the V8 isn't better, but the V6 is a damn nice engine.

LT < SS < SS 1LE < ZL1 < ZL1 1LE in performance rankings, if that's what you care about. So, why aren't you driving a ZL1?
You are correct. I shouldn't have said that and I apologize. I think my response was prompted more by the fact that it was getting late, the kids all have the flu and my 11 year old had just spewed her medicine all over the counter and my phone. So again, for what it's worth you have my apology.

You are also correct that the V6 is a very nice engine. In an early post on this thread I described it as a marvel of modern technology, it is.

My initial response was prompted by the statement that the V6 was so good the V8 didn't even need to be considered, which I think is clearly wrong.

The follow up that I disagreed with was that the V6 is a better value. I think this is also wrong. Is it a great value, yes, better than the V8, I don't think so. I say that having owned a 2016 SS for two years, my current 2018 SS 1LE for 5 months and having put about 1,000 miles on a loaner 2017 RS.

I'm not driving a ZL1 primarily because this is my daily driver and I didn't think the extra power would be worth the money given most of the driving would be in Atlanta traffic. Another reason is because I plan on buying an F250 SuperDuty so I can do more bass fishing and maybe pick up an RV to take to the gun matches I compete in. Next year if the front end looks get cleaned up I will probably buy a ZL1 1LE for weekend only driving and continue to use my SS as my DD.
