Yes, there are many Corvette owners having the exact same issue.
As you note, they use the same transmission.
Lots of talk of this issue over on the Corvette Forum also.

Can't answer your second question about the '18 models.
Do some more reading on this issue here on this forum and over at the Corvette forum.
It took over 10,000 miles on our '17 SS before the issue popped up.
