The 8L90 is a strong transmission, the torque converter and TCM programming just need fixing. Circle D, FTI, and now Yank (
https://www.converter.cc/category_s/140.htm#) appear to offer torque converter replacements. So couple that with a TCM program and you should be in great shape IMO.
