^^This issue seems to have been rectified in the later year Camaros, so GM more than likely know the cause. Given the severity and randomness of it, parts should be replaced whether they can replicate it or not.
Maybe you've already done this, but I would definitely take this higher. Even speak to an attorney. For me, this would be unacceptable.
