By law they can not void your warranty without proving the tuning caused a failure(magnuson moss), but some dealers may try too and you will end up paying lawyer fees in order to fight it if they choose to deny your warranty claim. I hate to tell you, when it comes to calibration changes the manufacture most certainly can void or blacklist the powertrain warranty. Audi, VW, Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes do it in the USA all the time.

The MMA does not provide protection when you mess around with the computer calibrations, that was argued years ago by the manufactures when the EPA requested they lock the calibrations down.

The MMA only protects you for when you change out parts on the vehicles that are not OEM, IE you use a Fram oil filter instead of a AC Delco. You use Pennzoil instead of Mobile, you run Continental tires instead of Goodyear. Using a Orielly alternator and the engine blows up, they would have to prove the aftermarket alternator caused the engine to blow up.

You take you Audi into the dealership for an oil change and while it is there the dealership is required by Audi to plug into it and check for any updates, while they do that the Audi mothership checks the computer calibrations. If they show to be modified Audi then flags the car with a "TD1" flag in their system.

At that point they will not warranty the powertrain any further going forward. I have personally seen it done and know people who have cars that have been flagged.
