1. Change to a top tier gas if you're not already using one.
2. Take it out on the highway away from traffic where you can let it run for an hour on cruise control at 60-70 mph. If you're still at 12mph, something is wrong with the car.
On a related note: My father and I have identical 2012 Genesis sedans (4.6 v8's). I get nearly 20mph daily driving the car in light traffic with pretty heavy reliance on cruise control (30-50 mph). He's retired and gets 12 while doing his thing up and down US-41. He asked me why his is worse, so I went with him on a ride. Answer became very simple after 3 minutes: It's all in his right foot.
The Mistress doesn't get the same light treatment... she gets 12-13 maybe 14 on a good tank
