Yes. They need to spin because they make their HP in the upper RPM ranges. Which is why many people opt for a PD blower. Because it helps out more in the lower RPM ranges.

Ok, thanks for responding on that. All my friends told me that I needed to drive the Mustang before I pulled the trigger on the Camaro, so for once I did what my friends said.
As I said, it was the GT and not the fancier 350. It was nice enough (although I thought the dash looked cheesy) but the immediate power wasn't there. If I spun it way up, it had good power, but my personal thinking was that there's no way I could keep the engine up in "the fun zone" during daily driving, and to do so would bring great risk to my license. The Camaro SS, on the other hand, had great low end power, so was more fun to drive at less than felony speeding speeds. Driving that GT convinced me that the Camaro was for me.
Of course this has almost nothing to do with the thread topic, so my apologies.
