Yes, this is true. If you do not want to cut the factory exhaust, you must remove the entire exhaust component from the connection point discussed in this thread (just behind the primary cats) all the way back to the exhaust tips. The factory exhaust is all one piece and welded together from the secondary cats back. If you are trying to retain any part of the stock exhaust in this run such as the muffler and tips or the X-Pipe, there is no way around cutting it.
