I hate GM's exhaust port on this head as well. My LS2/3/7 exhaust ports flow about 20cfm more. But the intake port is no joke. Especially for how small the valve is. I focus on all the stuff around the flow numbers to make a very efficient and effective head. My H/C cars get stock fuel mileage if that tells you anything. And I mainly use 111 lobe seps.
I am sure a well prepped E head will out do a stock ported head at some point for some combo's. But at what cost? Now if the head is a 280cc runner or something like that with those numbers I will be impressed for sure.
I am dying to pop a 2.200" valve in a stock head but I can't find one that fits yet. I would bet dollars to doughnuts I would crack 400cfm with that valve in a stock head. Shoot, a 2.165" valve will fit on the stock seat but I can't seem to find one to fit either yet.
I guess for me things boil down to dollars and cents. The dollars need to make sense.
