It's just funny though because you're driving a 5th gen which is substantially slower than the 6th gen. Your SS stock would be more comparable yet faster than the 6th gen V6 then it would be comparable to the V8 6th gen. And I'm talkin 0 to 60 times here. I believe the 5th gen was around 4.5 seconds according to GM for the SS and we're sitting at 5.1 seconds for the V6 in the 6th gen.
The only thing that you can compare the 5th gen SS to the V8 6th gen SS would be sound.
now I'm sure you've modded it but the bottom line is you bought it stock and it was good enough for you to lay money down to buy it at that point.

Because at the end of the day, at the time, it was what I could afford. I optioned a 5th gen 1SS because I couldn't afford more. And yes, the newer cars are faster, they're also lighter, have more HP, and better suspensions. That happens with all new cars, especially sports cars. I'm in no way saying that the V6 isn't a good car.

Like that GTP would be about as fast as a Dodge Caravan these days.

I had a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Competition Group. Stock HP was about 260-265hp. The last dyno run I did with the car put it at about 340hp to the wheels. It also sounded fantastically like a small V8. Was a great car, and it was something that was cheap to mod. My particular car had the WS6 package from the Trans-Am as part of the car.
I managed to get it there while having a baby, doing my parental duties, and trying to be a responsible adult. Again, this was what I could afford at the time.

The fact that my V6 is as fast as my LS1 it's pretty impressive to me.
Not looking for a pissing contest you just had a whole lot of it's not enough for me in your comment and I'm trying to understand why

Your V6 is also using a motor thats about 20 years newer, on a chassis that's one of the greatest in the world right now. I don't have a stock SS, and I don't currently have an SS either...
The point is, why mod something for 10-15k when I can put that money into something already built with more power and with a warranty? Again, this isn't about knocking you or anyone else. I wanted something more, I found a way to get it. For some, 150hp is enough... for some, doing 45 mph is enough... I like being able to go fast...and hear some whine...
