I'm tossed between a Mustang and Camaro as I have stated more than once. I hold no fanboy allegiance to either brand. Like German cars as well. Only exception is rice. No way, no how, hell has to freeze over before I go rice. I too have played with the configuration tools on the Ford and GM sites. I'm not a track person but more of a weekend corner carver so all the track stuff is kind of not interesting to me. I agree with the others that the various packages are definitely set up to suck people into options they really don't need in order to get options they want. I also agree that while the Mustang starts off inexpensive enough it only takes some basic options to make the price skyrocket. Comparing the Camaro to the Mustang, at least for me, SS vs GT with a decent amount of options, the Camaro looks like the better deal. I get X-Plan with Ford and GM Supplier discount with GM.. Not sure who is going to bargain more.
That being said, the 5.0 motor issues with Mustang and TC shudder problems with Camaro worry me. I get it that 1000's are sold and mostly the people with problems come to the net, but even still. QC doesn't seem to be what it used to be. What's really scary is the parts procurement problems with both companies. Waiting 6 weeks for a part? No thanks....And even worse still is dealers who deny the problem is there. That's the worst.
Just venting.
