Raybestos ST45 short review
Mods: this review is at the 1LE subsection since it's regarding 6 pistons Brembo.
After using Raybestos ST43 with my 4 pistons kit, I realized that the braking system is just too small for a more advanced track usage, hence my upgrade to the 6 pistons system. Ran Summit Point Front ST45 rear ST43 (leftover pad) + with Stock 1LE rims/tires. Weather 40-50F .
On track:
Pros: Very firm initial bite (much higher compared to ST43). Linear torque curve . Superb pad wear - 2 days (weekend) at Summit Point only used 0.5-1 mm of pad. With the 4 pistons (yes it's clementines to oranges) I've used half to a full pad in one weekend on that track. Rotor thickness still measure 34mm , but too hard to call this one yet. I let an instructor drive around with the car and he said that the pad feels similar to his Ferodo DS1.11
Cons: These pads are not completely on/off but getting closer to it. Pedal release is not as easy compared to ST43, which require more precision and skill for trail braking.
Street:
Pads worked from cold at 25F without any issues. Very minimal squeal if using brake lube on the backing plate.
I don't think it's ideal to daily drive with these pads, because they will grind your rotors down.
Questions? let me know
Thanks
