I don't know if I would call a car/drivetrain that has only been around 6 years "bulletproof". Granted GM pushrod V8s generally are, I hardly ever saw a ZL1 for sale with over 20-30k miles when I was looking. There are a lot of cars that have deal breaking issues arrive after a few more years and miles. Most 2000 era BMW M cars and V8s come to mind, they are very affordable right now, generally reliable if maintained, but if they haven't had a VANOS rebuild or timing chain replacement, or a few other things, it might not be on the road very long before it needs some work. I'm not saying a ZL1 won't be reliable, I'm saying not enough of them have been driven enough to know for sure yet.
