While this TVS2650 Camaro makes a lot of noise, the blower sound that most people are looking for is the 8th order "rotor passing frequency" noise. This is a pretty big no-no when designing SC systems for OEMs - but in our aftermarket world it's very desirable - up to a certain point.

The amplitude and frequency changes with rotor RPM, so the faster the SC is spinning the louder it gets. All TVS superchargers make pretty much this exact sound, but with the 2 open throttle bodies directly over the rotor inlet faces most of the noise makes it out of the SC instead of being controlled by reflection and sound absorbing materials. Take a listen to 6genmike's TVS2300 Heartbeat in the video below making over 1000HP.

Sounds pretty familiar... Similarly, he's running a larger 103mm throttle body, directly connected to the MAF with an open air filter element allowing the noise to escape (and good airflow into the blower). You can also notice the blower starting to get quiet at the end of the run - an indication of the restriction of the throttle body on the engine.

We weren't able to reach the full power capability of the TVS2300 on this engine because of the 103mm throttle body being too small (there was almost 2psi pressure drop across the throttle at 7K RPM. But if we were able to use a large enough throttle body the scream from the SC (and engine power) would have increased all the way to redline.

We're hoping to have a larger throttle body solution for this TVS2300 on 6genmike's car once the engine is installed.

If you want your SC to make more noise, find ways to make it radiate. Replacing the OEM-like rubber elbow between the throttle and MAF with a thin wall plastic or aluminum tube will radiate more noise. Open air filter elements will help here as well. Finally get your fuel mods in place and hit the tuner shop to run a smaller pulley - you'll get sweet sounds from both ends of the car - SC scream up front with raging exhaust and roasting tires at the rear... I'm smiling just thinking about it!
