Why reinvent the wheel, the set Im using work perfect and the car sits on the nylon. My set also has the magnets about flush with the nylon surface, and thats what you want.

Hmm... I was thinking that the pinch weld should NOT be touching and the sides of the slot would be supporting the weight on either side of the weld. This is how the OEM scissor jack works on the pinch welds of my daughters and grandson's cars.
The ZL1 of course doesn't come with a jack or tire...
Could someone with an SS chime in? How does your car jack work? Does it straddle the pinch weld and support weight on either side of it or does it actually lift on the weld itself?
