Truth. You'll be replacing amps and speakers. Not a quick fix at all.
Why? Bose systems use low impedance (1-2 ohm) speakers and the amps are designed to run them (allows them to use a smaller amp). If you install door speakers with say 4 ohms you'll have to really crank the volume to get any sound from them, meanwhile all your other OEM speakers will be blaring. The only way around this is to replace speakers and the amps to get the uniformity you need.
You can buy better, low impedance speaker replacements but they are not cheap.
That's why I focused on better enclosures, i.e. sound deadening and acoustic foam behind the speakers to improve the "housing" (doors, etc.). Highs still aren't great but overall the system is better than before. At the end of the day, you are in a car, quite possibly one of the worst acoustical chambers.
