r888's are the only tire I would consider for any kind of highway acceleration with 700whp or more. They worked great on my car; with a bit of wheel slip based ignition retard. I sold my last go fast car before the r888r came out so I can't comment on it, but if it's anything like the r888 it's a great tire. You want a stiff sidewall at high speed. Some guys like the challenge and thrill of pushing a soft wall, but... if you want to make sure you go home in your car... Stick with a sticky, stiff sidewall tire. That being said, if you want to put down the power you paid for, lose the 20" wheels. Just extra mass (less whp), less sidewall (even with r888's you want sidewall).
IDK if HP tuners has it, but on all the 2jz (the fast street cars), regardless the tire, set the things up to slip between 10-30% wheel speed (depending on how driver wants it). Research has found that slipping a bit above 10% gives the most traction. That's something you want to think about in terms of power curve or in terms of traction control settings. With a posi blower, that power comes on hard early so it can be a bit harder to pedal into the 'groove' in terms of the right amount of slip, compared to a turbo with a nice wastegate duty cycle, or a centri blower car.
