You're probably right. I used to have a Hurst shifter in my '70 Nova SS 396 - loved that thing. Sure wish I had the buttery smooth synchros from the ole Muncie 4-speed "Rock Crusher" in my ZL1 M6 to go with it.

I agree but you gotta have enough meat to put that torque to the pavement. Problem is that the extra traction works against me on the launch. It still bogs if I hook right away, although it recovers more quickly and accelerates faster with the 26" Hoosiers. Next time I'll focus on trying to get just enough wheel slip on the launch to move forward into the power band (about 2500 RPM) before it hooks. If I can do that and execute all my shifts on time, I should drop at least 2-3 10ths.
