I'm sure there's more to it, but I don't recall knock retard specifically being a big problem in the logs that I gathered. IAT2s certainly have a big impact, but the corresponding spark timing reductions are explainable/expected.
The point is valid though. Each model/configuration likely has its own complexities that factor in to the launching approach. (e.g., auto, manual, cars with PTM and eLSD, cars without PTM and eLSD, etc., etc.) The software baselines manged by the engineers has to be mind boggling for all of the configurations.
The challenges must be abundant and complex. That's why I'm so excited about hearing what the folks in the know have to say.
