I am 99% sure that limit was not stated when I bought the pump. I wonder what issues they found.

Yea this has been stated since the pump came out. The LT4 pump with a 32-38% lobe outflows the LPE pump with the 6.5mm lobe. Of course I had to see for myself too, we tried it and measured it all. The pump goes from max preload to no preload with anything over 7mm. The pump needs to see constant preload or the control functions do not work and the rail pressure goes berserk causing the car to go into REP mode. Highly advise going back to the LT4 pump.
