So assuming you paid full retail? You are also including taxes & assuming all fees your State charges to make what a Ford dealer offered you sound as bad as possible? You can go to another dealership & see what they offer. Honestly, I always just try to see who is the least difference. Wouldn't care if my trade in was valued at $5 so long as the what I am actually spending is less than at other dealers.
Just because a dealer offers a number does not mean they are setting the value for your car. Maybe they already have a couple on the lot(or within the dealer network) & are just going to send it to auction? Or maybe they are going to try to get $33/$34k out of it retail & make $6k off of it.
All dealerships do things differently. Some focus on selling primarily new units while others make better money on used. Among other ways.
