If you aren't happy with the results because of the texture, i recommend a really fine wetsand followed by the thinnest coat of caliper paint you can apply. If you applied coats that are too thick or too quick between coats, the caliper will look very textured. I wouldn't be too discouraged by it though. I've seen some pretty amazing looking calipers done by hand with a brush.
