I'll try 1st and 2nd in mine next week when I have some time to record it. Either there's something up with your car in particular, or there's some specific scenario at work here.
Just for reference, why are you trying 1st or 2nd on a roll? Thought most did roll racing around 40ish. I'm usually trying 3rd around 3.5-4K RPM, is that too low for a good roll race?
