I use the Meguiars 5" DMF pad on my Rupes 21, I changed the backing plate from the 6" to the 5". Some people state that you cannot use the Rupes 5" backing plate with the Rupes 21, but that isn't true.
The machine is balanced by weight, and the 5" weighs exactly the same as the 6" one does. Kevin Brown (probably the best detailer in the world), has been doing it for a long time. He also invented a washer mod for the original Rupes 21, which keeps the pad spinning on curves, so I haven't had the need to try the new Mark II, since changing the backing plate and adding the KB washer mod. I'm sure it's a good machine though. If my original one ever goes bad, I'll get the newer version.
Now I don't have the newer Mark II Rupes 21, so I don't know if the backing plates for it are able to be changed from 6" to 5". I also use the 3" Meg's DMF pads on my Rupes Mini.
These pads will also work with a standard DA, just get the proper sized backing plate. Meguiar's actually makes a backing plate specific for these pads for a standard DA (they call them disc's instead of pads).
