Correct, only the replacement part gets covered from most manufacturers. So a oil pump replacement would get a 12 month or 12k warranty if the factory warranty was about to go out.

I imagine the oil pumps are made by a outside company, I'm in the middle of changing my 5.7 toyota tundra water pump, the 1st change out was at 100K, now I have 227,000 I believe it started miles...
