Don't think diff temp is a thing. Trans temp is though. Trans and Diff share a cooling circuit so i'd imagine the temps between the two should be similar.

ZLE is geared much shorter than base ZL1. 6th doing 60mph is ~2k RPM in the ZLE. In the base ZL1 60mph is more like 1400.
For a daily livable car I think the taller gear would be much nicer.

My guess is that the whole rack may have shifted? A curb hit or impact should only effect one side which would throw off total toe and change camber. Since the total toe stayed the same....
