The stock wheels are painted. Time will tell how long paint holds up. I bought my car used and that paint was wrecked due to improper detailing. Was able to get their repair negotiated in the deal....

Mine was like that too on the passenger side of my 2017. I used a fingernail file to remove the sharp edge.
