The sensing point is between the blower and engine. So when your not in boost, the gauge reads the vacuum created by the engine.

To the OP, depends on your lifestyle. If you find yourself taxiing around more than one child or person on a regular basis, then something like the Jeep SRT or TH may be a better all around vehicle....
