I read somewhere that yes you do need to get it programmed by the dealer. Just FYI I called to get it done and they wanted to charge me $98 to do it. So be prepared to haggle with them.

I had to have a muffler shop make then out of 2.5" stock. Cut at 6" and then expanded. Then I welded the whole assembly to my exhaust pipes. But I am sure you could use band clamps to connect it.
