It's hard to tell for sure without being there in person, but the sound reminds me of a friend's car that has a little rattling because of the headers and x-pipe on the car.

Not to mention the torque: even on the base pulley you're in need of more traction. Make 700ft/lbs and with the tires to put it down the car now needs new half shafts, etc...

I bet it's as fast. I've seen some videos of a cammed 5th gen 1LE vs a stock 6th gen and it was neck and neck. You've got more power, but at least 250 more lbs to contend with.
