I always put the top up, mainly for the reasons already mentioned, but also I don't want to worry about having to clean up bird crap on the interior. (seen it done on some elses convertible)

stop before it is closed and turn the handle so it will line up to latch, or do you let it all the way up until it hits the upper windshield and push up the top and latch it?
