i was around when ther was 250ci straight sixs... 350ci and 395ci v8 camaros. no one ever got down on a 250 ci sixer,.... it was a camaro.. thoses little 250ci with a 3 speed ran just fine...at less...

most of today truck have a idling computer that can be set for temp and low battery limits. the truck can turn itself on or off if the batteries get to low or if the temp inside the cab is outside...
