Anyone install the Magnaflow 12469 Mid pipe Muffler?

Recently did a muffler delete with MBRP. It's still too loud.

Anyone install the Magnaflow 12469? Curious about your thoughts/feedback. Any issues?

Yes sir... Several of us have... Check out this thread...

https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...ight=2650+loud

I added this with the AWE axle back, headers and HF cats... and it made the car sound PERFECT...

ARH HF Cats failed, gutted them, cars stunk and was too loud again, V banding in some 4.5" GESI's now...

SOCAL - Love it!

Any issues with the MF muffler? Any backpressure issues? Guessing you've been nothing but happy.

I did 2 MBRP billet resonators in the tunnel and it sounds great now.

No issues. It is a straight through X pipe design... so no back pressure issues.

I can’t speak for SoCal but I’m at 1059 WHP through that Magnaflow muffler… so it probably isn’t too restrictive… :smiling1:

I had issues with that muffler. It definitely quieted things down and for that I really liked it. I had restriction problems as it takes 2, 3” inlets and goes down to a dual Y - effectively making it a single 3” in the center. I spoke to an engineer at Magnaflow as I was a bit confused by why they would do this. He sent me the CAD drawings that confirmed the diameter of the piping inside and that it wasn’t suited for our application but it would muffle sound if you have sound restrictions. Ultimately I went with the GESI high flow cats, MRBP resonators and it took a lot of the edge off. For track days at sound restricted tracks - like Laguna - I had Laguna pipes made with a insertable resonator to further reduce noise if I need to. (Sometimes the fog/humidity in the air will cause sound to reverb around the sound booth louder).

Question: What was the hp number before the muffler?

780 WHP before I added the muffler (it was added after adding headers to the car). Still on 93 at that point, this was back in 2020. Since then I beefed up the fuel system and made 837 WHP, dialed up the blower speed to 927 WHP, ported the 2.9 to 955 WHP and finally switched to the 3.0 to land at 1059 WHP. Even with big DI stuff I’m out of fuel otherwise I’d make even more…and hopefully will later this year. :happy0180:

it reduced the sound quite a bit with my borla atak, stock headers. no more bangs at startup. great fitment.

Solid build. Mine was at 868 I think and it was noticeably slower.
Stock bottom end with Magnuson 2650, Port Injection and ARH LTs.
Added a slightly smaller upper pulley since then and seems to be around 16.5 psi. Been thinking about heads but, I’m having trouble finding traction as it is on the road course at my level.

Ive been tempted to fillet open the Magnaflow muffler and put a true X pipe in there. The packaging is hard to beat. I would do it so I could swap the MBRP resonators out on quieter track days.

Yeah your motor is the restriction, not the muffler IMO. I’m at about the same boost level but 200 WHP higher, so that’s a motor efficiency difference. Blowers are comparable so no issues there. Cam and heads would probably drop 3-4 psi off your boost number. Are you catless at the track?
