258 dollar oil change

I drive an 2021 SS1LE and just left the stealership. Only 15 bucks worth of labor. Dexos oil change 216 bucks and 9 bucks for the filter. 16 bucks tax. Did I get bent over?

Yes. I got this for $52 from Amazon.

We can see too far.

My 2019 Duramax takes like, 10 quarts of oil, and it still only costs me ~$100.

Yeah, you got taken. Sorry to say.

Wow, so over $21 per quart of oil?
Glad I change my own, under $60 total.

Yes, it's $120 at Starling Chevy in Orlando for Mobile1 ESP w/labor and filter.

Thank you all for confirming. Will have to go out of my way to my next nearest dealership or just start doing it myself time willing.

You totally got bent over, hard...

THIS is the proper oil for your 21 SS, it is the factory fill... $7.88/qt at RockAuto...

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...001841&jsn=784

Here is the proper filter... $3.31...

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...863262&jsn=798

$88.68 all in with tax (8%)...

If you have the means to do fluid changes yourself, ALWAYS do them yourself, at least you know the right stuff will be put in...

Not to be mean, but you really have to ask if $258 for an oil change is a lot? Lol you weren't like "gee that's absurd" when they gave you the bill? Is this your first time ever having the oil changed in a vehicle ever? If so, then I guess I can somewhat understand not knowing

Definitely questioned it but at the same time what would I be able to do considering the work was already done on the car. I knew something was up when the bill was 200 dollars more than my old V6 oil change.

Ask for the itemized bill. Because it's like they charged literally double what they were supposed to. I'd STILL go back and ask, if you only paid $15 in labor, for the itemized receipt for all of the materials involved.

Its so grossly bad, that I'd like to have faith that it was an accident and someone wasn't paying attention.

The LT1 V8 does take 10 quarts (make sure they billed you for 10 qts AND check your oil level, wouldn't be the first time a dealer refilled with only 6 qts)...

The oil is fairly expensive, but even at a dealer the oil change should have been about $150-$170 at most...

Now if they charged you $15 if you bring your own oil and filter . . .

I still wouldn't do it, but would be curious about what they would say.

I assume you meant LT1 and not LS1, but holy crap they take 10 quarts of oil? What's the oil change interval on them? Dats a lot o' black gold to keep things lubed lol
