After lurking and dreaming I finally got a ZL1

Was really interested in the 2 SS 1LE or the ZL1 after searching and searching AZ as well as CA, and Utah I got a ZL1 2 weeks ago. Wow super impressed even after owning numerous Liter bikes/crotch rockets. I did not get it exactly as I would have ordered it but in these times the waiting time I was getting was too long for me. The main colors I was looking at was Black, Riverside Blue and Wild Cherry. I started with 3 miles on Odo and now got a little over 500 miles on it already.

Also got the ZL1 Addons lifting blocks for the pinch welds and rock guard I need to install. And was planning on changing oil at 1000 miles and seen some saying 500 and 1500 it seems over kill doing twice so fast. And read to do the rear diff soon as well but not sure on when on that yet. I’m coming from lifted trucks (F250, Tacoma & FJ) over the last 20+ years so quite different I always did quick oil change but never front diff, transfer case or rear diff on the trucks, suv or cars early before so that’s new to me.
What else should I be thinking about? And also anyone from AZ on here that can recommend a premium window tinter because this rear window is insane. I’m also quite meticulous on things so looking for the best. I had dealer do nothing to the car besides fill it up so that I could clean, clay and detail the car myself. :happy0180: |
Congrats on the new car! Where in AZ are you. Im out in Waddell.
As far as oil change, od say do it around 500-1000 miles. Do the diff around 500 miles as well. Then its good for a long while afterwards. Get the zl1 add-ons lift blocks and rock guards asap. As far as tint, unfortunately my tint person went under during covid so idk. Id also recommend spending the coin and either get it PPF'd or ceramic (or both) depending on if its a daily driver or a weekend toy. Past that, enjoy the car. |
If you check on Amazon, there are similar Chinese "knockoff" lifting blocks for the 6th gen. They are a little cheaper than ZL1addons, but do exactly the same thing! Had them on mine for over 2 years without an issue.

Congratulations and one of my favorite colors! Enjoy that new hotrod.

Looks very good, congrats
The diff fluid change is to get rid of potential break-in contamination, cheap insurance and peace of mind basically. If you want to preserve the paint in the best possible condition, I'd look at getting some rock guards (mudflaps, heh) as well as PPF for at least the front and side mirror caps, but if you can swing it, the whole car. |
Congrats on the Z!
