Shipping a car with a private shipper?

Put a deposit on a new Camaro at a dealer in SC, anyone have personal experience using a private shipper? Everything on google seems like sketchy ads. The car would need to go from SC to FL.

I had a dealer ship me a Silverado from AZ once and it took 4 weeks.. is there faster ways to accomplish this? Debating just flying out tomorrow and driving back

Plycar has been really good for me. 2 cars to Callaway and then to dealer (and on one to my house from the dealer). Always on time. Photos taken and documented on email with bill of lading.

This is like what I’m looking for thanks

SC to FL? That’s a long day-trip depending on where in FL I guess. I’d just go pick it up, enjoy the new car, and it’s a perfect break-in trip! Probably way less $$ than a shipper, even if you stop for the night at a Motel 6!

Have you talked to the dealer? I bought mine new from a dealer about 500 miles away, and they arranged the shipping. I did a check on shipping costs to make sure what they charged was competitive, but let them handle the rest. Smooth and easy.

I was going to do this. Be very careful!! Read all the paperwork. Many will get you for added fees. Make sure the mileage on the car is documented by picture when it is put on the carrier and that there should be no more the 1/2 mile put on the car by the time you get it. Many times they "hire" a rig to get your car so if they give you a pickup date of say 04/20. A lot of times they won't pick it up that day...it'll be later, and in some cases I saw 10 days later. So I decided to save myself the headaches and just drove and got mine. I drove from Detroit to Souix Falls, SD and back.

Do you recall how long this ended up taking to get delivered to you? I’m impatient hahah

It was a little over a week. Most of that was waiting on a truck headed my way. Rapid City, SD isn't really on the way to anywhere, so it took a bit longer than they expected. But it made it.

Gotcha year I had a dealer ship me a 2011 z71 in 2015 and it took over a month so I’m scarred. I’ll def ask the dealer tho you seem to have had a good experience. The vehicle seems to be GM corporate owned for 5 months, that’s it, anyone heard of that?

Which dealership???? LOL

I have used Dependable in the past a few times. Great service, reasonable process and transit times. They offer open and closed (open is cheaper)

Some years ago, laid up after back surgery, had a car shipped from Cali to Long Island. They wanted me to pick up at a depot in NJ, but I was not able to drive at the time.
So, for an additional $150 they brought that truck right to my door!

I also agree with above poster, take the drive, enjoy the car!!!!

Good luck whatever you decide! Get that awesome car!!!!

PLYCAR, PLYCAR, PLYCAR. I can't say enough good things about that company and how they treat your vehicle in shipping. They employ their own drivers they are not just a "dispatch" company that takes a fee to put you on a board for pick up that all the truckers see. I have had lots of vehicles shipped in the last 20 years including 3 since October of last year, mostly good experiences and a couple bad ones. But Plycar is head and shoulders above anyone. Period.
