Radio stays on?

I can’t say I really paid attention before but I thought the radio turned off when I shut it off and opened the driver door. Lately it stays on for at least 5 mins after I leave the car and lock it. I don’t know how long as I haven’t timed it. Am I crazy and it’s always done this or is it a glitch?

Yep, it's a glitch. All 3 of my vehicles, (see signature), the radios turn off immediately when you open the Driver's side door.

It just did some auto update. Maybe that will fix it.

I just bought a new 2020 1SS 1LE. My radio stays on with the key out and the driver's door opened, too. So we're saying this is a glitch? Also, the car can do automatic updates over the air?

It hasn’t done it since it did the update.

Yes. It does it through the OnStar system.

FWIW, my car did an update to itself soon after I posted the above, and now the radio shuts off when the car is shut off and I open the door. I assume that is normal, since that's how other new cars seem to work.

Just another short update. After the above-mentioned update, everything was normal for awhile. Then one day I noticed it began the old behavior again of staying on after opening the door with the car shut off...and it again notified me that an update was ready to download and install. I did that update, and the behavior went away again - it's all normal again. I wonder if this "staying on" behavior is just linked to the availability of a software update?

Since I havent driven or started my car for a while due to winter. Just got it out this week. Now my car is doing this same thing, where I get out and the radio was staying on. Again did two updates, hopefully thats what the issue was. At first though it did not ask to do the update.
