Bless Me Father, for I have sinned...

I am at just about 900 miles with my Hyper Blue A10 and what a car!

Beautiful day in New England (finally) and I did some back road twisty driving. And I can't help it... I sinned a lot.

Up till now, I have done a little bit of paddle shifting only to vary the revs for break in. Today, with the roads I were driving, I put it into manual shift mode and shifted entirely with the paddles. This car zings!

So things of note:

1) Hugs the road as well as my GT3
2) Feels solid as a rock
3) Way more compliant than my GT3 on bad surfaces. Other than losing traction a few times under acceleration, this ZL1 hung in there even with bumps and no oh-sh**t moments when bumps seemed to want to send me into the next lane.
4) It passes instantly. It felt safe to take down two cars at a time given very small passing opportunities on a windy two lane road (although you need to be judicious with the throttle even at high speeds, because this will break loose under acceleration even in higher gears. (Great fun - not sarcastically said - I love it!).
5) Paddle shifts are not instantaneous, but they are faster than I shift myself with a manual. They are plenty fast enough to be fun.
6) Paddle shifting in manual mode is Very engaging
7) Downshifts make wonderful sounds.
8) You have to want to shift in manual mode. Twice, I forgot that I was in that mode only to panic when it did not upshift. Since I drive two other manual 6's, I immediately hit the brake going for a non-existent clutch.
9) I can't seem to take it out of Sport mode for Tour etc... ever. Just love that setting for back roads and in general. Nicely weighted steering.
10) No body roll what so ever
11) When I compete, I will still put it in automatic mode.
12) Car draws a crowd. Went to the marina to check on my boat. Workers came out like cock roaches.
13) And Unlucky 13 - It is impossible to keep it under 5000 RPM during the break in period on a back road. You can't help sinning. This thing just zings up the revs...I apologize to Chevy and all the people in this forum who are diligently keeping to the break in protocol... My flesh was weak...

You are forgiven. Do three hot laps at Lime Rock and one launch control 1/4 mile pass. Sin some more.

 sounds like you had a blast. Impressive comparison

Once the break in is over I bet you'll give it HELL!:burnrubber:

I absolutely love my Zl1; however, I would love to have a GT3 parked beside it in my garage.

Sounds like a LOT of fun!!!!! :burnrubber: :burnrubber:

Yes. I find that a car is not truly broken in until you spin it a few times on an Autocross course. I want to really get to know it in that venue first, before I really go nuts elsewhere.

Don't worry, many of us are sinners too including me. According to some, our engines are going to fall out and not make it to 100K if we didn't do the correct break in.

Nice review MoreSpeed! I have to add, that even though it will break the tires loose at many different speeds, it has been very easy to drive so far with all the nannies on. It never blows the tires off or does anything crazy. I plan on seeing how it reacts with everything off on my next trip out. Curious to see if it is still easy to drive fast or if it becomes a handful.

MoreSpeed. I'm looking forward to getting this on the track to see how it fares against my friends 991 GT3's.

LMAO, great post...I was cracking up. I love that GT3 btw. I'll be real interested to see if you actually still use the flappy paddles a year from now though.
