OMG!!!!
Stopped in at my local Ford dealer for my free oil change on my Ford Edge. Walked into the showroom to check out two good looking white with black stripes GT350's. One was a standard, the other an "R"....
Standard was an ADM of $20k, and the "R" was $50k. $125k for an "R" !!! Beautiful cars...though not, IMO, any better than our ZL1's. There are some rich folks out here who just might be dumb enough to pay that stupid amount for either car... Just though it was interesting in light of GM offering such low prices for our ZL1's JJ |
a fool and their money are soon parted!

It is their retarded dealer allocation program. The GT500 is even worse with some Willy Wonka style golden ticket to get the track package cars with painted stripes. Instead of just building enough supply to meet demand, they are nurturing an environment of extreme dealer markups. The initial allocation will sell quickly, but then the cars will rot on the lots.
The GT350 guys think they are special because they paid too much. This behavior has turned a bunch of Ford guys to Chevy. It will accelerate with the release of the C8 Corvette. |
I love the GT350, especially the R. One of the most fun cars to beat with my Z. I’ve raced 2 Rs and 1 GT350 and they all are mystified how they loss.
|
I’m one of those guys that switched. I’ve had mustangs and cobras. Never bought a GT500 or GT350 because of the ADMs. There was even an ADM on the Bullitt...no thanks. The ZLE is my 3rd GM vehicle and 1st Camaro.

I asked a local dealer if they could get me a GT350R for MSRP.......no chance.......$20k over sticker. I guess I'm a little mystified why they command such high prices? They are very cool cars, no doubt, and I know they are numbered cars, so maybe that makes them more special? I told him very nicely that if someone was willing to pay $20k over sticker then more power to the dealer, good on them.......of course the other part of me hopes that car sits in their showroom for 3 years and they end up having to sell it for a loss.....

Let me guess, Huntington Beach Ford? They are the worst!
|
The GT500 with carbon will be 100k and I’m sure mark up will be 20-30k. At that point I’d be looking at a 570s. Most wont tell the difference between one mustang and another but a Mclaren stands out amongst all crowds even if you have no idea what it is.
|
No surprise to me that they would mark them up like that! There are people out there that will pay that much extra money just to own one and most will never be driven like they were built and designed for, the track!

Anyone interested I could get a list as a buddy had a few deals worked out before his pregnant wife made him cancel them. |
Rarely is a car only valued on its performance and capabilities.
It all come down to supply & demand and perceived value. For the same reason that a GT305R is over priced is the same reason that an SS 1LE is under priced (we are talking actual sales prices not MSRP). The perception of the Camaro and GM in general sucks, hence the discounts. Shelby on the other hand is held in high regard, the general public know the name, add that with the limited# produced and BAM, ADM's What hold value in peoples minds does not always match up with actual performance. This is why marketing works and why marketing is big $$$ It is also why BMW gets away with over pricing the M3/4 because "The Ultimate Driving Machine" is engraved in everybody's minds. This is why I like mag. reviews and professional reviews on cars. Ok, I am getting off topic here, but you get the point. |
i've had both and the 350 just doesn't compare to this ZLE, in anything.
one positive of how ford produces things more limited is you don't get upside down in a loan as fast, or at all. but the ADM thing is a complete turn off and this golden ticket shit is just lols |

This is one reason I will be waiting on the C8 for a few years. All these early buyers are going to be VERY negative when dealers start discounting them in a year or two. |
