Common Warranty Items
Is there a list of common items that are getting addressed under warranty?
I recently purchased my car and have only a month left of warranty. I am not noticing any issues driving or upon visual inspection under the car. But since the car is so new to me, I am not very sensitive to issues. For my 4th Gen, the dealer actually prescribed a list of things to get done just before the warranty expired (headlight motors, battery, etc). Definitely not following protocols, but it sure was nice as a customer! |
Congratulations on a great purchase
Off the cuff, two potential service procedures I can think of that the majority of cars with your specs have is the rear diff groan (TSB 17-NA-287) and the NPP exhaust rattle (TSB 18-NA-172), both very simple and quick fixes. Your car is a strong beast :happy0180: |
Arpas nailed it. I’d you have a bumper to bumper warranty left, get the steering wheel replaced right before it ends fresh leather haha. But that’s what I do tho.

Thanks folks. Diff fluid has been changed annually, so good there. Haven't noticed the NPP rattle, but will tune my ears for it...

Scan it for any hard codes. I had all injectors replaced under warranty due to misfires. Look for a P050D.

Update - took it in for final visit under warranty:
1. Leaking hydraulic serpentine tensioner - Replaced. 2. Leaking rear MRC shocks - Told this is normal. Apparently GM is a little tighter on replacements than in the early MRC years. The SA showed me their document which basically says to replace only if there is a visible run down the shock body or fluid drips on other components (e.g. lower control arm of barrel of wheel). 3. Coolant loss of about 1/2” to 3/4” from lower tank per 1000mi. Told this is normal evaporation. Thanks for the input. I did check for codes before I took it to the dealer and none showed up. |
