My ZL1 Vert build
 

So I've been researching and collecting parts for a little while and my exhaust components finally came in.

Well yesterday I dropped it off at the seemingly world famous Matt Sorian's shop :first:

He tells me that the car is running again and the Kooks 3" midpipe fit just fine.

Car made 513whp and 519wtq during the baseline pull on the Mustang Dyno. Hoping he will be tuning it tomorrow and we'll see how much it picks up after this phase 1 of the build.

I saw your car. Yes, the fitment was spot on. Expect those baseline numbers due to 98 degrees. 100% humidity. I base lined mine in Winter if I recall at around 560ish so. Heat kills.

Nice, Ricco! Can't wait to see numbers. But where are those underbody shots you promised? Specifically at the rear cross section. That's what the Vert owners need to see.

Yeah me too! I haven't personally seen the car yet since it has been put on but I'm hoping Matt got some shots of the midpipe installed.

Matt didnt get finished tuning it today but it has already picked up over 100whp from baseline!

He said that the Kooks midpipe fit the vert just fine.. They had to tweak (rotate) one pipe just a little to help it clear some of the bracing but it clears.

He didn't grab a pic of that part of the exhaust while it was on the lift so this was the best I could do while it was on the dyno.

You can clearly see where it connects and that the crush pipes have been replaced.

Ricco, looks great. I can see the angle at the rear cross pipe is maybe 5-10mm lower than that of BORLA's 60606. Your clearance is better than mine. Question, regarding tuning, did you guys send off your TCM to HP tuners to have it unlocked?

He said it was close but cleared enough that it shouldnt hit or rattle.. Guess we will know for sure once it goes on the road. I'm pretty pumped.

No TCM tuning as far as I know :iono:

Damn, 100 hp gains? Nice. With a stock upper too. I almost feel bad cus I saw your car before you did. haha. I happened to be up there paying for the Pro Charger and Matt was like, check this Zl1 out. I was like, oh this is Ricco's car. I had no idea you were even modding it. Anyhow, you can't stop now dude. Go all out. Be the first guy to 1000 hp vert. haha

Yup, and the tune isn't finished yet :hail:

We'll see how far I get with the rest of the mods I have planned.. Prolly wont get to 1000whp but should break 1000 at the crank - that counts right :laugh:

What was your baseline again? NM. I see it. 513. I say 637/604. It's hard to tell in Houston just due to heat. If you did a cold pull this morning, I think you hit around there. But, I forget, you aren't spinning the blower like me, show you shouldn't see much of a decline, but then again it is 100 freaking degrees out so. But, I say, 637.
