some of you know, some of you dont. as well as my mechanical prowess, I'm also a certified pyrotechnician for Zambelli International fireworks. I recently shot an $8000.00 show for Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC last week for a crowd of over 3000 students and faculty. and told you all pics would be coming. and here they are.....

here are some shots of the setup of the show. the shortest stacks are 3" shells, the middle row are 4" shells, and the back row is 5" shells along with the intro being mixed of 3's and 4's. and the finale was 3's, 4's, and 5's intermixed. and the reason the finale is covered with burn-resistant tarps is because we dont want burning debris to set it off too soon.

the whole show was hand fired.

btw. tac. you fail at life to an existential degree.

I shot about 3/4 of the 4" shells, (had a noob that I was training on hand firing) he was having trouble getting his stance right and kept leaning in towards the tubes (big no no). then he hit a flight (3 or more shells tied together) too high and missed the fuse and hit the det cord (which burns at around 1000ft/s and when you only have 3 ft of it.... its fast). which caused all 3 shells to launch simultaneously with him leaning towards them... after that, I took over and finished the 4s out and moved on to the 5s.

then started on the finale... crawling on my hands and knees with a road flare in hand watching the lines of shots zigzag up and down, relighting the line as sometimes the force of the lift charge can snap the det line. all in all it was a fun time

Sounds fun...when it comes to explosives (conventional) most Ive got to light off was a 1/2 stick of dynomite. Ive worked with HE, 10,000 lb rocket motors, etc. Every now and then we get to play with those....but you gotta have a realllllly good reason. LIKE THIS!

Watch the whole vid! (my last duty station)
