Cold Air Intake Questions

I thinking of buying a CAI for my stock 2018 SS. I do not want to do a tune. Ive read that the Holley Intech gives the most HP increase 18.9 hp increase and I am curious if this is just BS or no but ive seen videos and it does back up what they claim.

Ive been waiting on the Vararam but as of today still nothing.

Are there any better CAI's and are these HP increases just BS and trying to take my $350...

Im sure this questions has been beat to death but any responses would be great.

Most of the increases shown by the manufacturer is bunk. Look for a CAI that has proven 3rd party dynos.

Bingo, advertising has a high degree of bullshit.

My suggestion if you want a CAI, but will not tune for it, would be to get a Rotofab. Only one that has been tested to not screw up the MAF function.

Also I saw some article where they used that Holley Intech CAI that you are looking at on a Camaro SS, and the car quite frankly was slow.

From a previous car and the $350 intake, it's all garbage. You'll never feel 18.9hp, it's said you need 30 to get an appreciable driving difference. The things are worth about $100, too, there's 300% or more in the markup to retail.

go RotoFab!

Thanks for the info! I dont think I am going to buy anything but I may wait on the Vararam and see if its all its cracked up to be.

The GM CAI is made by Cold Air Induction, comes with a tune from GM, and maintains factory warranty. All others have the potential to void you warranty.

CAI will not make a big performance gain until you start making other mods and tune the car. It is a little noisier, and I'd say throttle response is a little better (but that could be the noise playing with my experience).

For your $350, you could have Pray Performance port your throttle body, which is a better improvement than the CAI.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Here are some dyno results comparing the Roto-fab CAI to the stock intake system. These results have come from a variety of tuners, from Texas, to Connecticut, to Korea!

Gains are gains, a consistently measurable 5% gain through out the powerband I would say is a win.

Thats what I was going to say, even the Chevy intake comes with a tune.

+1 for Rotofab. I’ve owned their intakes on multiple cars now and I will keep buying their product because it is high quality and gets results.

Roto-Fab has been a top seller for the 6gen. We sell a bunch of them with nothing but happy customers.

If you must it's hard to argue with this and I also agree on the throttle body, if you have a manual transmission the throttle tip-in is smoother. No experience with Pray (used Mamo) but I'm sure it would be similar, it has been one of the best mods I've done as far as drivability.

I say get pray ported intake manifold and a ported tb (katech, pray, etc. Don't get a certain intake because of warranty concern you will be fine. Rotofab is only proven but I wouldn't buy any intake for $400 plus. I found my rotofab used for $250, then bought a new dry filter for $60.

Rotofab big gulp?

I want to know that if I buy the rotofab big gulp can it be used on a Camaro 2017 ss with a MSD 2700 intake manifold 103mm throttle body? If someone knows please tell me
