It appears the UAW chickened out

News reports were the assembly lines were supposed to gear up for production starting next week. UAW, GM, Ford, FCA were all in talks to sort it out.
The UAW was calling locals to notify people to prepare for work.

Now, the UAW balked and it looks like the shut down will continue for an unknown period.

UAW is also playing the COVID Blame game

The latest word I can find is May 18th is when production will resume. Arlington is back to making trucks already.

Anybody else have any idea what the schedule is like?

I saw that May 18th was when GM wanted to restart production , but that the UAW pushed back saying it was too early, and now Michigan Governor wanting to extend stay at home order is sure to further complicate everything. Personally, if I don't hear anything this upcoming week, I'll probably take advantage of GM's 0 percent/84 month deal, and find a 2019 Corvette

So you all think they will finish the 2020 models or move on to the 2021?

DaddySpeed 05-02-2020 03:35 PM

They're expected to finish orders that already in, I'd don't know if dealers are taking new orders, my order had a TPW week of 3/23, unfortunately the plant closed down just a couple days before. The timing would have been perfect for me, I had a lease that just expired this past Friday.

The 2021's have been reportedly pushed back to January.

My TPW was the week after yours- 3/30

The last entry on mine was 3400.

So close, yet so far, the waiting isn't making isolation any easier.

I think any car with a vin is going to be built. Any 20,s with no vin assigned I can see being pushed back to 2021 models. Just my thought.

I have heard all ordered 2020 cars are still planned to be built as 2020 cars.

5/18 we will know... once they actually get the plants running and however many shifts and how they reassess the priority of vehicles.

Hopefully, they run 3 shifts. Something tells be the output is going to very slow and limited because everyone is more interested about staying apart than building cars.

I'm thinking it's going to be one shift with strict rules to be the safest they can. I am ok with that, I hope my car gets cranked out ASAP while everyone stays healthy !

When I bought my camaro 2 weeks ago I asked about ordering one and they said more than likely it would be a 2021 and I would get it in time to store it for the winter. I chose to go with the one on the lot lol

DemonZL1 05-05-2020 09:24 AM

Yeah, if ordered now, it's a 21 for sure.
