Group Purchase Interest for Huron Speed Twin Turbo Kit?

6 Attachment(s)
Gauging interest here to see who might be interested in a Group Purchase for our 6th gen SS/ZL1 Twin Turbo Kit? If we get some interest I will set it up! Need to have at least (5) to make it worth while and we can knock some costs down. More we get the more everyone would save!
Post up if you would be interested!! :happy0180:

Isnt that what the classifieds section here is for? :smiling1:

My thought for the GP would be the base kit (no turbos, WGs, or BOVs) which runs $3999 plus ship now. We would do a $1000 deposit to enter. More that enter the lower everyone’s final payment would get when the sale is over. We can do some freebies and giveaways in there also.
And of course we can add in turbos, WGs, BOV options in drop down menus for all, just wont be required if you don’t desire to.
If interested, post up!

So people would only be getting a group buy discount off of the $4K base kit? Does that mean the other pieces are added at their normal pricing? i.e. turbo's WG and BOV?

ZarusSS 01-10-2020 06:22 PM

What kind of discount are we talking? And why just the base kit?

Huron Speed 01-11-2020 06:16 PM

We can do it either way! If the majority wants a group buy off the complete kit that is no problem. This is the forum for discussion, let me know what you guys would like to see and we will make it happen!

gtfoxy 01-19-2020 10:04 AM

I’d be interested in a complete system.

What’s your recommendation for turbos for a stock ‘18 1SS?

oldman 01-19-2020 01:04 PM

That is so boss, I'd love to buy the pipes now and keep them with my fetish supplies... I poopoo twin turbos since the 80s because most systems frankly sucked (OEM and others). But this OMG, a thing of beauty... would sell my soul (what's left of it) for a system...

I'm retired now, but the Oldlady wants me out of the house, so I may go back to the grind, if not and you are in the Austin area, send me an email and I'll help with the install just to lay hands on this bad boy... (get a forged engine so "we" don't have to be worried about dialing up the boost).

Huron Speed 01-20-2020 07:23 AM

Bump it up! If we can get ~5 I will set it up for you guys and it will include some nice savings for everybody!

For a SS car with a stock bottom end I would do the 6262 turbos! Light fast but very efficient!

Do what I did and pull it off and sell it and use the money to buy the turbo kit. I can't wait to get my car back up and running with this kit on it.

I’ve heard some mixed things about the oil-less turbos. Anybody have experience with them ?

I run them on all of my personal vehicles and absolutely love them! Installation is much easier, no tapping into the engines oil system, no worries of leaking oil, smokey turbos, etc. No scavenge pumps, no electrical harness for the pumps, etc etc.

I have ran them on my personal daily driver silverado, previous 5th gen Camaro, now our 6th gen ZL1 that is making 1258 rwhp, as well as some previous 4th gen Trans Am projects. These are all personal use and I continue going back to using them on each project! Comp is also excellent to work with! :happy0180:

I think Comp had some issues when they first released them years ago but from what I have read they have worked all of the bugs out them now. I'll know shortly when my car is back up and running with one of these kits on it.

Huron Speed 01-22-2020 08:14 AM

Bump!

parish8 01-22-2020 09:59 AM

We need more turbos around here!

I love the idea of Oil-Less turbos. At first I was thinking why bother if you have to run coolant lines instead but coolant lines really are easier to run than oil lines. No return pump, no wiring, no timer, no check valves, no risk of a failed return pump...

You got it, so much easier! Tap into (2) rubber heater coolant hoses with our supplied Tee fittings. Don't even have to worry about slopes or uphill runs as it all stays pressurized, very easy!

Now they have the air cooled version which also eliminates the coolant hoses! :happyanim:

How often do the oil less and/or the air cooled turbos need to be serviced or rebuilt?

2-3 pumps of their grease every 2-3k miles. Easy just to do that with your oil changes and keep it simple :happy0180:

Is that on the oil less AND air cooled or just the air cooled? I am trying to get all of the info I need for this build so I don't destroy anything, never used oil less turbos before.

Its for both.

Oil-less and Air-cooled both use the same center grease set-up, they just go about cooling it in different methods. The standard Oil-less set-up uses coolant to cool the center where as the air-cooled uses air from the back side of the compressor wheel to cool the center (air temp off the back side on the compressor is roughly half the front side)

Awesome thanks for the info. I guess I can purchase the grease through you? Or do I need to contact Comp for it?

gtfoxy 01-23-2020 06:19 PM

I have some additional questions:
1) Can I get a system with cats or do I have to fab this portion myself?
2) I do not want the gates dumping to atmosphere, can I get the kit with them plumbed back into the down pipe.

SC88 01-23-2020 07:48 PM

Interested!! as I have a Itch to build something with a turbo.

We do not do any systems with cats, and do not recommend adding them in, all off-road use.

Space is tight on these cars, depending on your transmission you may be able to recirculate the wastegates if you desire but nothing we are doing on these kits at this time.

I'm going to get something set up, and we will start it off with a good discount as well so even if we dont get a large turn-out those entered will still get some good deals! :w00t:

Ok, then I’m out.
