Brake squeal

Does anyone else have an issue with their brakes squealing when coming to a slow stop? It's driving me nuts, it only happens with light pressure and the last 20-30 feet from coming to a stop.

Yes, started doing this about 2-3 weeks ago. ~10k miles on the car, just had new tires put on and they checked brakes but no issues

If I come to a hard enough stop it seems to make it go away but no idea what started it

Curious if anybody else has any thoughts/ideas

Had the same issue with the stock brakes. It didn't do it all the time, but it did on occasion. Changed mine to the Powerstop Z26 pads, due to the brake dust produced by the stock pads, and haven't noticed the issue with them.

Have you tried to season the brakes?

Mine have not made a peep thus far. At 5K miles now.

Not sure if the pad compound if different from the SS 1LE to the ZL1 though.

This can happen if you don't brake hard at least occasionally. Burnishing the pads should do the trick.

Yes, exactly this. Also if you use a heavy wheel cleaner it sometimes takes the material off the rotors so just burnish if your braking feels weak.

I had the same issue. There is a service bulletin about this that can be referenced from this post:

The Z26 pads aren't quite as good as the stock pads, but for everyday use they are more than adequate. I haven't had any issues with them and they have performed well when I've driven curvy mountain roads. If I was going to track the car, I would for sure stick with the stock pads. I just got tired of having filthy wheels after a short drive.

Had the sme thing - washed my wheels with Meguiar's Ultimate All Wheel Cleanerand it fixed it instantly - seems like a break dust problem
